Hadith Takhrij«
Brief Explanation
1؎: Here, by "tawaf" is meant "sa‘i" (the ritual walking between Safa and Marwah). For a mutamatti‘ (one performing tamattu‘ hajj), two sa‘i are obligatory, whereas for a qarin (one combining hajj and ‘umrah), only one sa‘i suffices, whether it is performed after the tawaf al-qudum (arrival circumambulation) or later. The same ruling applies to the mufrid (one performing only hajj). It should be noted that in some hadiths, the word "tawaf" has also been used for "sa‘i".

Benefits and Issues: ➊ From this hadith, it apparently seems that for the Qarin (and likewise for the Mufrid), a single performance of tawaf is sufficient, which he performs at the time of arrival (qudum). After that, on the 10th of Dhul-Hijjah, performing the tawaf al-ifadah is not obligatory for him, just as performing sa’i is not obligatory for him on that day, because he has already performed the sa’i with the first tawaf. However, Shaykh Ibn Baz (rahimahullah) has written that, in light of other evidences, the most correct opinion is that tawaf al-ifadah is obligatory for everyone, whether he is a mutamatti’, a qarin, or a mufrid. However, repeating the sa’i is only for the mutamatti’. For the qarin and the mufrid, a single sa’i is sufficient, which is performed at the time of tawaf al-qudum.
