´It was narrated from Zaid bin Khalid Al-Juhani that the Messenger of Allah (ﷺ) said:` “Jibril came to me and said: ‘O Muhammad! Tell your Companions to raise their voices when reciting the Talbiyah, for it is one of the symbols of Hajj.’”

Brief Explanation
1؎: From this hadith, the obligation (wujub) of reciting the talbiyah (labbaik) is derived. The use of the word «شعار» does not necessarily indicate obligation; many things are Sunnah, yet they are among the symbols (sha‘a’ir) of Islam, such as the call to prayer (adhan), etc.
