´It was narrated from Umm Salamah that the Messenger of Allah (ﷺ) said:` “Hajj is the Jihad of every weak person.”
Explanation & Benefits
Maulana Ataullah Sajid
Benefits and Issues:
➊ Allah Ta'ala has granted permission to certain excused individuals not to participate in jihad.
There is no blame upon the weak, nor upon the sick, nor upon those who do not find anything to spend.
Similarly, jihad is not obligatory upon women and children.
➋ The same ruling applies to women, children, and the elderly who are unable to perform jihad, as well as to the blind, the lame, and others like them.
➌ For such excused individuals, the means of attaining nearness to Allah and great reward is through Hajj and Umrah. For these people, this hardship is equivalent to jihad.
