Explanation & Benefits

Benefits and Issues:
➊ Allah Ta'ala has granted permission to certain excused individuals not to participate in jihad. It is stated: ﴿لَّيْسَعَلَىالضُّعَفَاءِوَلَاعَلَىالْمَرْضَىٰوَلَاعَلَىالَّذِينَلَايَجِدُونَمَايُنفِقُونَحَرَجٌ ﴾ () There is no blame upon the weak, nor upon the sick, nor upon those who do not find anything to spend. Similarly, jihad is not obligatory upon women and children.
➋ The same ruling applies to women, children, and the elderly who are unable to perform jihad, as well as to the blind, the lame, and others like them.
➌ For such excused individuals, the means of attaining nearness to Allah and great reward is through Hajj and Umrah. For these people, this hardship is equivalent to jihad.
