´It was narrated that Ibn ‘Abbas said:` “We were with the Messenger of Allah (ﷺ) between Makkah and Al-Madinah, and we passed through a valley. He said: ‘What valley is this?’ They said: ‘Azraq Valley.’ He said: ‘It is as if I can see Musa (as) – and he mentioned something about the length of his hair, which Dawud (one of the narrators) did not remember – ‘putting his fingers in his ears and raising his voice to Allah reciting the Talbiyah, passing through this valley.’ Then we traveled on until we came to a narrow pass, and he said: ‘What pass is this?’ They said: ‘Thaniyyat Harsha’ or ‘Laft.’ He said: ‘It is as if I can see Yunus, on a red she-camel, wearing a woollen cloak and holding the reins of his she-camel, woven from palm fibres, passing through this valley, reciting the Talbiyah.’”

2؎: It is possible that in the realm of souls (ʿalam al-arwah), Musa and Yunus (alayhima as-salam) passed before the Prophet (sallallahu alayhi wa sallam) in this very manner at that time, or that this incident is from their own era and Allah, the Blessed and Exalted, showed it again to the Prophet (sallallahu alayhi wa sallam), or it is a comparison to the perfection of knowledge and certainty, as if he is seeing this matter.
Explanation & Benefits
Maulana Ataullah Sajid
Benefits and Issues: ➊ The prophets of Bani Isra'il (the Children of Israel), alayhimus-salam, also performed Hajj of the noble Ka'bah, even though their qiblah was Bayt al-Maqdis (Jerusalem).
➋ One mode of revelation to the Messenger of Allah (sallallahu alayhi wa sallam) was that past events were shown to him in such a manner as if they were happening before his eyes. In this way, the Prophet (sallallahu alayhi wa sallam) would become acquainted with past events or the conditions of Paradise and Hell in the same way as someone who has witnessed events with his own eyes and remembers them.
➌ It is recommended (mustahabb) to call out the talbiyah in a loud voice. (Sunan Ibn Majah, Hadith: 2922 to 2924)
➍ It is prohibited for a man to wear stitched clothing in the state of ihram. (Sunan Ibn Majah, Hadith: 2929) It is possible that in the Shari'ah of Yunus (alayhis-salam) this was permitted, which is why he wore a woolen cloak (jubba).
