´It was narrated that ‘Ubadah bin Samit said:` “The Messenger of Allah (ﷺ) led us in prayer on the Day of Hunain, beside a camel that was part of the spoils of war. Then he took something from the camel, and extracted from it a hair, which he placed between two of his fingers. Then he said: ‘O people, this is part of your spoils of war. Hand over a needle and thread and anything greater than that or less than that. For stealing from the spoils of war will be a source of shame for those who do it, and ignominy and Fire, on the Day of Resurrection.’”

Explanation & Benefits
Maulana Ataullah Sajid
Benefits and Issues:
➊
It is Sunnah to deliver admonition and advice after the prayer because at that time all the people are gathered.
➋
In admonition and advice, the circumstances and requirements of the time should be taken into consideration.
➌
No mujahid may keep anything from the spoils of war (mal-e-ghanīmah) in his personal possession; even the smallest item must be handed over to the commander of the army. After distribution, whatever comes into someone’s share is lawful for him.
An item that has come into the share of another mujahid may be purchased from him.
➍
On the Day of Resurrection, the sins earned in the world will be a cause of disgrace and regret.
The punishment of Hell is in addition to this.
➎
The unlawful use of the collective property of Muslims is a crime.

➊ This hadith shows that betrayal is a cause of disgrace and humiliation in both this world and the Hereafter.
➋ A Muslim mujahid should be trustworthy; he should not be dishonest or treacherous.
➌ His objective should not be the acquisition of wealth and possessions, rather his aim should be the pleasure of Allah and the elevation of the word of Allah (i‘la kalimatullah). As long as he adheres to this principle, he will be successful in this world and the Hereafter; otherwise, disgrace and humiliation will be his fate.
