Hadith 2838

حَدَّثَنَا عَلِيُّ بْنُ مُحَمَّدٍ ، حَدَّثَنَا أَبُو مُعَاوِيَةَ ، حَدَّثَنَا أَبُو مَالِكٍ الْأَشْجَعِيُّ ، عَنْ نُعَيْمِ بْنِ أَبِي هِنْدٍ ، عَنْ ابْنِ سَمُرَةَ بْنِ جُنْدَبٍ ، عَنْ أَبِيهِ ، قَالَ : قَالَ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ : " مَنْ قَتَلَ فَلَهُ السَّلَبُ " .
´It was narrated from the son of Samurah bin Jundub that his father said:` “The Messenger of Allah (ﷺ) said: ‘Whoever kills, the spoils are his.’”

Brief Explanation
1؎: That is, his clothes, weapons, mount, etc. The imam has the authority, whenever he wishes, to encourage people in battle by declaring that whoever kills an enemy, his belongings will belong to the killer; or he may say to a particular group that you will receive this much extra from the spoils of war.
