´It was narrated from Abu ‘Umar, the freed slave of Asma’, from Asma’ bint Abi Bakr, that she brought out a cloak edged with brocade and said:` “The Prophet (ﷺ) used to wear this when he met the enemy.”
Explanation & Benefits

Benefits and Issues:
➊ The mentioned narration is weak in its chain of transmission; however, it is established from an authentic narration that it is forbidden (haram) for men to wear garments made of pure silk. (Sahih Muslim, Book of Clothing and Adornment, Chapter: The Prohibition of Wearing Silk and Other Things for Men, Hadith: 2-68)
However, it is permissible to attach silk to the edges of garments, such as the hem and collar, etc., and its maximum limit is up to four fingers' width, as is explicitly mentioned in the next hadith.
And Allah knows best.

Benefits and Issues:
➊
The meaning of "nishan" (mark) is that its edge was embroidered with silk thread.
Ibn Umar (radi Allahu anhu) cut off that much of the edge.
➋
Even a great scholar can make a mistake in a particular issue.
➌
The statement and action of the Prophet (sallallahu alayhi wa sallam) take precedence over the fatwa of any scholar.
➍
If a man's garment has a small amount of silk on it, it is permissible, whether it is in the form of embroidery or as a piece of silk fabric.
