Hadith 2789

حَدَّثَنَا مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ بَشَّارٍ ، حَدَّثَنَا وَهْبُ بْنُ جَرِيرٍ ، حَدَّثَنَا أَبِي ، قَالَ : سَمِعْتُ يَحْيَى بْنَ أَيُّوبَ يُحَدِّثُ ، عَنْ يَزِيدَ بْنِ أَبِي حَبِيبٍ ، عَنْ عُلَيِّ بْنِ رَبَاحٍ ، عَنْ أَبِي قَتَادَةَ الْأَنْصَارِيِّ ، أَنّ رَسُولَ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ قَالَ : " خَيْرُ الْخَيْلِ الْأَدْهَمُ الْأَقْرَحُ الْمُحَجَّلُ الْأَرْثَمُ طَلْقُ الْيَدِ الْيُمْنَى ، فَإِنْ لَمْ يَكُنْ أَدْهَمَ فَكُمَيْتٌ عَلَى هَذِهِ الشِّيَةِ " .
´It was narrated from Abu Qatadah Al-Ansari that the Messenger of Allah (ﷺ) said:` “The best of horses are those that are deep black, with a blaze on the forehead, white marks on the legs and white nose and upper lip, and with no whiteness on the right foreleg. If not deep-black, then reddish-brown, with these markings.”

Benefits and Issues:

Horses are also considered superior or inferior according to their respective colors.
Some colors are regarded as excellent, several types of which are mentioned in this hadith.

(a)
A black horse with a white forehead.

(b)
A black horse with white legs.

(c)
A black horse whose lip and nose are white.

(d)
A black horse with three white legs, and the front right leg is not white.

(w)
A "kumait" (blackish-red) horse with a white forehead.

(r)
A "kumait" horse with white legs.

(z)
A "kumait" horse whose lip and nose are white.

(y)
A horse with three white legs, the front right leg not being white.

(2)
A mujahid should have knowledge about the animals used in jihad, as to which animal is better and which type is not useful.
Similarly, one should be familiar with the various types of vehicles and weapons, as well as their strengths and weaknesses, so that a good item may be acquired, which will facilitate the work of jihad and bring greater benefit, and so that a useless item is not acquired.
