Hadith 2669

´It was narrated from Sulaiman bin Amr bin Ahwas that his father said:` I heard the Messenger of Allah (ﷺ) saying during the Farewell pilgrimage: “No criminal commits a crime but he brings. (the punishment for that) upon himself. No father can bring punishment upon his son by his crime, and no son can bring punishment upon his father.”

Brief Explanation
1؎ : In the explanation of this hadith, Ibn al-Athir states: «جنایہ» : Sin and crime refer to those actions of a person for which he becomes deserving of punishment or retribution in this world or the Hereafter. That is, neither a relative nor any other person will be held accountable for the sin or crime of someone else. Therefore, when someone commits a crime, another person will not be punished for it, as is stated: «لا تزر وازرة وزر أخرى» (Surah al-An'am: 164) "No bearer of burdens will bear the burden of another." That is, Allah Ta'ala will establish complete justice and fairness, and whoever has done good or evil, He will reward or punish accordingly—good deeds will be rewarded well, and evil deeds will be punished. The burden of one will not be placed upon another.
