´Muslim bin Haisam narrated from Ash'ath bin Qais who said:` “I came to the Messenger of Allah (ﷺ) with a delegation from Kindah, and they thought that I was the best of them. I said: 'O Messenger of Allah (ﷺ) are you not from among us?' He said: 'We are the tribe of Banu Nadr bin Kinanah, and we do not attribute ourselves to our mother and we do not deny our forefathers.'”He said: “Ash'ath bin Qais used to say: 'If any man is brought to me who suggests that a man from Quraish does not belong to Nadr bin Kinanah, I would carry out the legal punishment (for slander) on him.'”

Benefits and Issues:
➊ The Prophet Muhammad (sallallahu alayhi wa sallam) is from the tribe of Quraysh. Quraysh is the title of Fihr ibn Malik. Only the descendants of Fihr are called Quraysh. The name of Malik’s father (Fihr’s grandfather) is Nadr ibn Kinana. (See: Al-Raheeq Al-Makhtum, p. 75)
➋ When it is said about someone that he is not from the person whose son he is considered to be, it means an accusation of adultery (zina) against his mother. Therefore, either the person making the accusation must prove his claim, otherwise he will receive the punishment of eighty (80) lashes.
➌ Whether the accusation of adultery (zina) is made explicitly or implicitly, in both cases the ruling is the same.
