´It was narrated from Mu'awiyah bin Qurrah that his father said:` “The Messenger of Allah (ﷺ) sent me to a man who had married his father's wife after he died, to strike his neck (execute him) and confiscate his wealth.”

Brief Explanation
1؎ : From this hadith it is understood that financial punishment (ta'zir) is permissible in Islamic law. It has already been mentioned above in the chapter on theft that the Prophet (sallallahu alayhi wa sallam) said: "Twice the value shall be taken from him." And some have said that this person had become an apostate, so the Prophet (sallallahu alayhi wa sallam) ordered his execution, because in the prescribed punishment (hadd) for adultery, property is not confiscated.
