Hadith 2594

حَدَّثَنَا هِشَامُ بْنُ عَمَّارٍ ، حَدَّثَنَا سَعْدُ بْنُ سَعِيدٍ الْمَقْبُرِيُّ ، عَنْ أَخِيهِ ، عَنْ أَبِيهِ ، عَنْ أَبِي هُرَيْرَةَ ، قَالَ : قَالَ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ : " لَا قَطْعَ فِي ثَمَرٍ وَلَا كَثَرٍ " .
´It was narrated from Abu Hurairah that the Messenger of Allah (ﷺ) said:` “The hand is not to be cut off for (stealing) produce or the spadix of palm trees.”

Benefits and Issues:
➊ By "fruit" is meant the fruit that is still on the tree. If someone picks fruit from a tree and eats it, his hand will not be cut off; rather, a minor beating may be administered or he may be pardoned.
➋ By "core" is meant the soft part found inside the date palm tree. The people of Arabia eat it.
