Benefits and Issues:
➊
A man engaging in sexual acts with another man is a very grave major sin (kabirah).
Its abhorrence exceeds that of ordinary fornication (zina).
➋
Common people refer to this type of immorality as "liwat" (sodomy), which is not appropriate because this word is derived from the name of the pure and chaste Prophet Lut (alayhis salam), whereas he used to preach abstention from this crime.
He very sternly forbade his wicked and immoral people from this filthy and evil act. Therefore, it should be called "the act of the people of Lut" or, in reference to those people, attributed to the city of Sodom and called "Sodomy," as it is termed in English (Sodomy).
In Urdu nowadays, the term "unnatural act" is also in use. In any case, it is not appropriate to call it liwat.
➌
The punishment for this crime is death.
There is no distinction between whether the person is married or unmarried.
