‘Abdullah bin ‘Amr (may Allah be pleased with them both) reports that the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) said: “When a debtor dies owing a debt, on the Day of Resurrection his debt will certainly be taken from him, except in three cases: one, when a person’s strength becomes weak in jihad, so he takes a loan to increase his strength so that he becomes capable of fighting Allah’s and his own enemy; second, a person with whom a Muslim dies and he has no means for the shroud and burial except by taking a loan; third, a person who fears for himself from remaining unmarried and, fearing for his religion from calamity, takes a loan to get married. Allah, the Exalted, will pay the debt of these three on the Day of Resurrection.”
