Brief Explanation
1؎: That is, if a person is destitute and does not have money, then there is a genuine compulsion in repaying the debt. However, if one has money but does not repay people’s debts, delaying in this matter is a sin and is an injustice to the creditor; it is as if one is usurping his right, which is sinful. It is also an injustice to oneself because life is uncertain—one may die and the creditor’s debt may remain unpaid. Therefore, when one has money, one should immediately repay the debt.
