Benefits and Issues:

A woman should seek her husband's permission before giving charity or similar acts.

By "food" (ta‘am) is meant prepared food, such as bread, curry, etc., and it can also refer to grain, i.e., wheat, barley, rice, and so on.

If, due to the husband's habits and circumstances, the woman is certain that her husband will not be displeased by a particular act of charity or helping someone in need, then it is not necessary to seek separate permission. However, regarding anything about which she thinks her husband would not like her to spend, she must ask. For example:
If a woman wishes to give away some jewelry in charity or wants to give a large sum of money to someone, then seeking permission is necessary.

English Commentary:
1:
From the first narration, it is understood that a wife cannot spend (from her husband's wealth) without his permission, while in the following narration, there is no condition of permission.
Both narrations can be reconciled in such a way that there are two types of permission: explicit (verbal) permission and implicit (situational) permission.
Sometimes, the husband is agreeable to the wife giving something away without explicit permission, as is common in villages and similar places where women give some grain or flour, etc., to the poor, and the husband does not object to this.
