´It was narrated from Jabir that the Messenger of Allah (ﷺ) said:` "There is nothing wrong with selling animals, one for two, hand to hand," but he disliked selling them on credit.

Benefits and Issues:

The exchange of one animal for another animal is permissible.

The exchange of one animal for another animal should be conducted with immediate payment from both sides.

In exchanging one animal for another, equality is not necessary; rather, two animals of a lesser breed may be given in exchange for one animal of a superior breed, or two goats of an inferior breed may be taken in exchange for one goat of a good breed.

Regarding the aforementioned narration, our esteemed researcher writes that this narration is weak in its chain of transmission; however, the previous narration suffices for it. In addition, other researchers have also declared it to be authentic (sahih) and good (hasan), therefore, despite the aforementioned narration being weak in its chain, it is still authoritative and actionable.
