´It was narrated from 'Aishah that the Messenger of Allah (ﷺ) said:` "Whoever takes an oath to cut off the ties of kinship, or to do something that is not right, the fulfillment of his vow is not to do that."

Benefit:
The aforementioned narration has been declared weak in its chain of transmission by our esteemed researcher, whereas other scholars have, based on supporting evidences, considered it actionable and authoritative.

This means that if one is unable to offer expiation (kaffarah), then at the very least, he should abstain from the sin which he has vowed to commit.
Abstaining from sin is also an act of righteousness.
