1؎: "Laghw" is that oath which slips from a person's tongue unintentionally and without deliberate intent; no expiation (kaffarah) is required for it. These oaths of yours (sallallahu alayhi wa sallam) were also of this category, yet even for these you (sallallahu alayhi wa sallam) sought forgiveness, so that the Ummah would avoid even this. In Sahih Bukhari, it is mentioned that most often you (sallallahu alayhi wa sallam) would swear an oath in this manner: «لا ومقلب القلوب». And in the two Sahihs (Bukhari and Muslim), it is narrated that you (sallallahu alayhi wa sallam) said: «وأيم الله إن كان لخليقاً للإمارة», meaning: "By Allah! Zayd ibn Harithah was worthy of being a leader." And Jibril (alayhis salam) said to Allah: "O Lord, by Your honor, whoever hears this will enter Paradise."
