Brief Explanation
1؎ : The Prophet sallallahu alayhi wa sallam was grieved and distressed. In one narration, it is mentioned that a gift came to him sallallahu alayhi wa sallam from somewhere, and he sent portions of it to all his wives. Zaynab radi Allahu anha returned her portion. He sent it again with an increased amount, but she still sent it back. At that point, he became angry and swore an oath that he would not go to any of them for a month. In another narration, it is mentioned that the Prophet sallallahu alayhi wa sallam had slaughtered an animal and sent its meat to all his wives. When they did not accept it, he became angry at that time. And some have said: The reason for the ila (oath of abstention) was not this, but rather that the wives of the Prophet sallallahu alayhi wa sallam used to ask him for expenses and make demands. Thus, Abu Bakr and Umar radi Allahu anhuma came and scolded their respective daughters. At that time, the Prophet sallallahu alayhi wa sallam performed ila, and then the verse of choice (takhyir) was revealed. «واللہ اعلم»
