Maulana Ataullah Sajid
Benefits and Issues:
➊
The mentioned narration has been declared weak in its chain by our esteemed researcher, and he has further written that its origin is found in Sahih al-Bukhari. In addition, Allamah al-Albani rahimahullah writes regarding it: The mention of Usamah and Anas radi Allahu anhuma in it is munkar (denounced), and he further writes that the authentic wording is in Sahih al-Bukhari: “The Messenger of Allah sallallahu alayhi wa sallam ordered Abu Usayd to prepare her (to send her to her parents) and to give her two cotton garments to wear.” Therefore, despite the mentioned narration being weak in its chain, it is authentic due to supporting evidences, as the researchers have stated. For further details, see: (al-Mawsu‘ah al-Hadithiyyah, Musnad al-Imam Ahmad: 25/460, 461, 462; Irwa’ al-Ghalil: 7/146, Hadith: 2064; Sunan Ibn Majah with the verification of Dr. Bashar ‘Awwad, Hadith: 2037)
➋
These inappropriate words uttered by ‘Amrah bint Jun radi Allahu anha were due to some misunderstanding.
➌
Whoever asks you by Allah’s name or seeks refuge (with you) by Allah’s name, his request should be fulfilled. The Prophetic hadith is: “Whoever seeks refuge with you by Allah, grant him refuge; whoever asks you by Allah, give him; whoever invites you, accept his invitation; and whoever does good to you, repay him. If you do not find anything with which to repay him, then supplicate for him until you think that you have repaid him.” (Sunan Abi Dawud, al-Adab, Chapter: Regarding a man seeking refuge from another man, Hadith: 5109)
➍
If divorce is given after the marriage contract but before seclusion (khalwah), and the dower (mahr) has been specified, then half of the dower should be given. () If the dower has not been specified, then something should definitely be given to her according to one’s means.
