Umm al-Mu'mineen Aisha (may Allah be pleased with her) says: The verse of stoning and the verse about an adult being breastfed ten times were revealed, and both these verses were written on a paper and kept under my bed. When the Prophet Muhammad (peace be upon him) passed away, and we were occupied with his death, a goat came and ate that paper.

Benefits and Issues:
➊ These are verses whose recitation has been abrogated while their ruling remains; for this reason, the noble Companions (radi Allahu anhum) did not write them in the Mushaf.
Allah the Exalted has said:
﴿إِنَّا نَحْنُ نَزَّلْنَا الذِّكْرَ وَإِنَّا لَهُ لَحَافِظُونَ﴾ (al-Hijr: 9)
“We have, without doubt, sent down the Reminder (Qur’an), and We will assuredly guard it.”
Therefore, it is not possible that the recitation of a verse is not abrogated and yet it is lost.
Moreover, the Qur’an is not preserved merely through writing, but its real preservation is through memorization by heart.
Among the noble Companions (radi Allahu anhum), there were countless individuals who were memorizers of the Qur’an (huffaz).
After them, in every era and every region, there have always been and will always be memorizers of the Qur’an.
From other ahadith, it is established that the final ruling is that the relationship of prohibition (of marriage) is established by five instances of suckling (breastfeeding), and this is the preferred (rajih) position.
