´It was narrated from Muhammad bin Munkadir:` that he heard Jabir bin 'Abdullah say: “The Jews used to say that if a man has intercourse with a woman in her vagina from the back, the child would have a squint. Then Allah, Glorious is He, revealed: 'Your wives are a tilth for you, so go to your tilth, when or how you will.' ”

1؎: The Ansar also used to follow the Jews, and they would say that whoever has intercourse from behind in the front private part, the child will be cross-eyed (ahwal). Allah the Exalted invalidated this, and permitted intercourse in every manner in the front private part. It is narrated in Musnad Ahmad that a woman from the Ansar asked the Prophet sallallahu alayhi wa sallam: What is the ruling if someone has intercourse with a woman in her front private part from behind? So he sallallahu alayhi wa sallam recited this verse. And Umar radi Allahu anhu said to the Prophet sallallahu alayhi wa sallam: I am ruined. The Prophet sallallahu alayhi wa sallam asked: "Why?" He said: Last night I turned my saddle (wife) over. The Prophet sallallahu alayhi wa sallam did not reply, then this verse was revealed, meaning there is a choice—have intercourse from the front or from behind, but penetration must be in the front private part (qubul). And he sallallahu alayhi wa sallam said: "Avoid menstruation and the anus (dubr)." Therefore, the meaning of the verse is not that penetration in the anus (the place of excretion) is permissible. Al-Tibi said: If someone has intercourse in the anus with a non-mahram woman, it is like fornication (zina), and if he does so with his own wife or slave woman, he has committed a forbidden act, but the prescribed punishment (hadd) will not be carried out on him. And Imam Nawawi says that if the passive partner (the one with whom the wrongful act was done) is a minor, insane, or was forced, then the one who committed such an act will have the prescribed punishment (hadd) carried out on him.

Benefits and Issues: ➊ It is permissible to adopt any method for intimacy, whether the woman is lying on her back, on her stomach, or on her side. However, it is necessary that only the way permitted by the Shari‘ah is adopted, that is, only the woman’s qubul (front private part) is to be used.
➋ The primary purpose of sexual relations with a woman is the attainment of offspring; this is why the woman has been likened to a field. The man, like a farmer, sows the seed in this land, from which he attains the blessing of children. This also proves that unnatural acts with a woman are not permissible, because throwing the seed outside the field, such as in a pond or elsewhere, is foolishness.
➌ Even if the meaning of ﴿أَنَّىٰشِئْتُمْ﴾ is taken as “from wherever you wish,” it still does not establish the permissibility of unnatural acts. Because the command is given to approach only the (harth) “place of cultivation,” and not any other place, whether one comes directly from the front or from behind to the front.
➍ One should continue to refute the superstitions present in society and clarify the reality.
