´It was narrated that Abu Hurairah said:` “The worst of food is food of a wedding feast to which the rich are invited and the poor are not. Whoever does not accept an invitation has disobeyed Allah and His Messenger.' ”

Brief Explanation
1؎: The food of the walimah is Sunnah, because the Prophet (sallallahu alayhi wa sallam) performed a walimah. However, he criticized that walimah in which only the wealthy are invited and the needy are ignored. It is thus understood that the best kind of meal is that in which the poor and needy also participate. The most excellent practice is to invite more of the needy and destitute to the gathering; if some friends, acquaintances, or wealthy individuals are also present, there is no harm. Then, when these poor and needy arrive, they should be honored greatly and served the finest foods, and if possible, one should also join them in eating.
