Explanation & Benefits
Maulana Ataullah Sajid
Benefits and Issues:
➊ The meaning of announcing the marriage is that the proposal and acceptance (ijab wa qubul) should take place in the gathering of Muslims, and the wedding feast (walimah) should be arranged so that the general public becomes aware that such-and-such person has married such-and-such woman. In this way, the path to illicit relationships is blocked.

➋ According to Shaykh al-Albani rahimahullah, the first part of this narration is hasan (sound). See: (Irwa’ al-Ghalil: 7/50, no. 1993). However, the mention of beating the duff (frame drum) is also established from other narrations, provided it is within the limits of the Shari‘ah, as will be clarified ahead.

Commentary:
Note:
(In the chain of narration, Isa bin Maimoon is weak, but the portion regarding the announcement is authentic based on corroborating evidences.)
