بَابُ : زَكَاةِ الْعَسَلِChapter: Zakat due on honey
Hadith 1823

حَدَّثَنَا أَبُو بَكْرِ بْنُ أَبِي شَيْبَةَ ، وَعَلِيُّ بْنُ مُحَمَّدٍ ، قَالَا : حَدَّثَنَا وَكِيعٌ ، وَسَعِيدُ بْنُ عَبْدِ الْعَزِيزِ ، عَنْ سُلَيْمَانَ بْنِ مُوسَى ، عَنْ أَبِي سَيَّارَةَ الْمُتَعِيُّ ، قَالَ : قُلْتُ : يَا رَسُولَ اللَّهِ ، إِنَّ لِي نَحْلًا ، قَالَ : " أَدِّ الْعُشْرَ " ، قُلْتُ : يَا رَسُولَ اللَّهِ احْمِهَا لِي ، " فَحَمَاهَا لِي " .
´It was narrated that:` Abu Sayyarah Al-Muta said: “I said: 'O Messenger of Allah! I have bees.' He said: 'Give one-tenth.' I said: 'O Messenger of Allah!' Protect it for me.' And he protected it for me.”

Benefits and Issues:

The meaning of the Companion having honey bees is that on some of his trees, bees used to build honeycombs.
To specify means that these honeycombs were declared to be his property so that no one could extract honey from the combs on those trees without his permission.
As for trees that are not owned by anyone, anyone who wishes may extract honey from the combs on them.
The zakat (obligatory charity) on honey is one-tenth.
If there are ten water skins of honey, then one water skin is to be given as zakat.
