´It was narrated from Abu Sa’eed Al-Khudri that:` The Messenger of Allah (ﷺ) observed I’tifak in a Turkish tent, over the door of which was a piece of reed matting. He pushed the mat aside, then he put his head out and spoke to the people.

Benefits and Issues:

A place for i'tikaf can be set up in the style of a tent, especially when i'tikaf is performed in the courtyard of the mosque and there is a need for shade to protect from sunlight and the like.

During i'tikaf, it is permissible to speak to people about necessary matters.

It is permissible to use clothing or other items made in non-Muslim countries, provided that there is nothing in them that is prohibited in our Shari'ah—for example, it is not permissible to use such men's clothing that is made of silk.
