´It was narrated from Abu Qilabah that when Shaddad bin Aws was walking with the Messenger of Allah (ﷺ) in Al-Baqi’, he passed by a man who was being cupped, after eighteen days of the month (of Ramadan) had passed. The Messenger of Allah (ﷺ) said:` “The cupper and the one for whom cupping is done both break their fast.”

Shaddad bin Aus (RAA) narrated that The Messenger of Allah (ﷺ) came across a man in Al-Baqi' (in Madinah) who was having himself cupped in Ramadan., and said to him, “The one who cups and the one who is being cupped have both broken their fast." Related by the five Imams except for At-Tirmidhi. Ahmad, Ibn Khuzaimah and Ibn Hibban regarded it as authentic.
Shaykh Safi ur-Rahman Mubarakpuri
Narrator of Hadith 541: He is Shaddad bin Aws radi Allahu anhu, Abu Ya’la Najjari, Ansari Madani. Due to being from the Ansar, he is called Ansari Madani. He was the nephew of Hassan bin Thabit radi Allahu anhu. He was a possessor of knowledge and forbearance. He passed away in Sham in 58 Hijri at the age of 75 years.
