Hadith 1644

´It was narrated that Anas bin Malik said:` “Ramadan began, and the Messenger of Allah (ﷺ) said: ‘This month has come to you, and in it there is a night that is better than a thousand months. Whoever is deprived of it is deprived of all goodness, and no one is deprived of its goodness except one who is truly deprived.’”

Benefits and Issues:

One should take into account the appropriateness of time and place in admonition and advice.
The noble scholars generally express their views on specific topics during particular occasions.
For example, in the month of Muharram, they refute the innovations of Muharram, and in the month of Rabi' al-Awwal, they refute the innovations of this month. However, it is also not appropriate to consider it necessary to deliver speeches on the same topic throughout the entire month.
For instance, in Muharram, to continuously discuss the true and false details of the incident of Karbala, and in Rabi' al-Awwal, to focus solely on the details of the birth and childhood of the Messenger of Allah (sallallahu alayhi wa sallam); rather, along with these topics, other practical issues should also be addressed.

The most virtuous night of this month is Laylat al-Qadr.
Its mention is also found in the Noble Qur'an in Surah al-Qadr.

I'tikaf (spiritual retreat) in the last ten days of Ramadan is a Sunnah for attaining the reward of worship on Laylat al-Qadr. However, if someone is unable to perform i'tikaf, even then, one should not be negligent in worshipping during the nights, especially the odd nights.

If by spending one night in worship, one receives the reward of more than thirty thousand nights of worship,
yet someone, merely out of laziness, fails to attain this reward,
then this is indeed a great deprivation.

According to some scholars, this narration is Hasan Sahih (good and authentic).
