Hadith 1635

´It was narrated that Anas said:` “After the Messenger of Allah (ﷺ) had died, Abu Bakr said to ‘Umar: ‘Let us go and visit Umm Ayman as the Messenger of Allah (ﷺ) used to visit her.’ He said: ‘When we reached her she wept.’ They said: ‘Why are you weeping? What is with Allah is better for His Messenger.’ She said: ‘I know that what is with Allah is better for His Messenger, but I am weeping because the Revelation from heaven has ceased.’ She moved them to tears and they started to weep with her.”

Brief Explanation
1؎ : From this hadith it is understood that Abu Bakr radi Allahu anhu, during his caliphate, did not tolerate even the slightest deviation from the practice of the Prophet sallallahu alayhi wa sallam. To the extent that those people whom the Prophet sallallahu alayhi wa sallam used to visit, Abu Bakr radi Allahu anhu also went to visit them. Thus, the caliphate of Abu Bakr radi Allahu anhu was, in a sense, a reflection of the Prophetic era. This is precisely why Abu Bakr radi Allahu anhu did not hand over the wealth obtained from Fadak and Banu Nadir, etc., to Fatimah radi Allahu anha upon her request; rather, just as the Prophet sallallahu alayhi wa sallam used to spend these assets, he continued to spend them in the same manner, and did not tolerate even the slightest change in the method of the Prophet sallallahu alayhi wa sallam. The real matter is this, not that Abu Bakr radi Allahu anhu did so out of «معاذ اللہ» greed or avarice, or that he caused distress to Fatimah radi Allahu anha. All such accusations are baseless and absurd. Abu Bakr radi Allahu anhu was the head of a great worldly government; he himself had sacrificed all his wealth for the Prophet sallallahu alayhi wa sallam, and did not hesitate to risk his life out of love for him. Can it be imagined about such a person that he would unjustly take a few date trees and anger the daughter of the Prophet sallallahu alayhi wa sallam?

Benefits and Issues:

Umm Ayman radi Allahu anha was from Abyssinia (Habasha).
She was the servant of the noble father of the Messenger of Allah sallallahu alayhi wa sallam.
In the childhood days of the Messenger of Allah sallallahu alayhi wa sallam, Umm Ayman radi Allahu anha had a significant role in his upbringing and care.
The Messenger of Allah sallallahu alayhi wa sallam freed her and married her to Zayd radi Allahu anhu.
See: (Riyad as-Salihin, Benefits by Hafiz Salahuddin Yusuf, Hadith: 361).

It is recommended (mustahabb) to visit righteous people.

Those individuals with whom the elders had pleasant relations,
their children and other relatives should also maintain these relations.

Loving those beloved to the Messenger of Allah sallallahu alayhi wa sallam is included in loving the Messenger of Allah sallallahu alayhi wa sallam.
Because of the love the noble Companions radi Allahu anhum ajma'in had for the Prophet sallallahu alayhi wa sallam, love for his relatives was also found in their hearts.

If, after a long time, one remembers the deceased and weeps, this is not contrary to patience.

Consoling the grieving is a Sunnah.
Abu Bakr radi Allahu anhu and Umar radi Allahu anhu consoled Umm Ayman radi Allahu anha by saying that the blessings of Paradise are better than those of this world.

Revelation (wahy) is the greatest blessing from Allah Ta'ala,
through which mankind received guidance and, being saved from the punishments of Hell, were honored with the various blessings and lofty ranks of Paradise.
