´It was narrated that Anas bin Malik said:` “Fatimah said to me: ‘O Anas, how did you manage to scatter dust on the Messenger of Allah (ﷺ)?’” And Thabit narrated to us from Anas that Fatimah said: “When the Messenger of Allah (ﷺ) passed away: ‘O my father! To Jibra’il we announce his death; O my father, how much closer he is now to his Lord; O my father, the Paradise of Firdaws is his abode; O my father, he has answered the call of his Lord.” (One of the narrators) Hammad said: "I saw Thabit, when he narrated this Hadith, weeping until I could see his ribs moving up and down."

Benefits and Issues:
➊
The passing of the Messenger of Allah (sallallahu alayhi wa sallam) was a tremendous calamity for the noble Companions (radi Allahu anhum ajma'in). The extent of their grief cannot be measured. These words of Fatimah (radi Allahu anha) also express her sorrow and grief.
➋
There is no need to inform the angels of anyone’s death. The meaning of the words of Fatimah (radi Allahu anha) is that this grief is not only the grief of humans; even the angels are sharing in this sorrow.
➌
Attaining nearness to the Lord means that previously, the honor of spiritual elevation was attained. Now, even your blessed soul has gone to Allah in Jannat al-Firdaws.
➍
These words of Fatimah (radi Allahu anha) cannot be considered wailing or elegy, because she did not beat her chest like the people of ignorance, nor did she tear her collar. Rather, she expressed her grief in a low voice, either in solitude or in the presence of a few individuals.
➎
Thabit (rahimahullah), too, whenever he narrated this sorrowful incident, would be deeply affected and would become sad at the mention of the passing of the Messenger of Allah (sallallahu alayhi wa sallam), because he did not have the honor of seeing him (sallallahu alayhi wa sallam).
➏
The passing of the Prophet (sallallahu alayhi wa sallam) is an event that causes utmost sorrow and grief. Therefore, celebrating the 12th of Rabi' al-Awwal is extremely inappropriate. The noble Companions (radi Allahu anhum ajma'in) had immense love for the Messenger of Allah (sallallahu alayhi wa sallam), yet even they did not commemorate the day of his birth or passing as a festival or a day of mourning. Celebrating the birthdays and death anniversaries of famous people is not the way of Muslims; rather, this custom has come into our society from Hindus and European Christians. One must strictly avoid such customs and practices of non-Muslims.
