➋
The meaning of ta’ziyah is to express sorrow to the afflicted person or to the relatives of the deceased, to console them, to encourage them to be patient, and to say such words that lighten their grief.
For example, one may say:
“May Allah forgive the deceased.”
“May He elevate his ranks.”
“And may He grant you a great reward for your patience.”
Or say: “He was Allah’s trust, which He has taken back,” and so on.
➋
Offering ta’ziyah is an expression of sympathy with a believer, and sympathy with a believer is a part of faith.
➌
By (hullah) (khil‘ah) is meant a fine garment that will be given by Allah on the Day of Resurrection as a reward for certain good deeds.
Through this, the honor, greatness, and elevated status of that person will be manifested before all people.
