1860. Commentary: Benefit: The chain of transmission (isnad) of the aforementioned narration is weak, but the issue mentioned in the hadith is correct based on other authentic evidences: that the crying which naturally occurs due to shock is permissible; it does not fall under the category of the prohibited type of crying. Allamah Atiyyubi, while explaining the aforementioned hadith, has mentioned its supporting evidences and has conducted a very fine discussion. Benefit:
It is established from this hadith that merely weeping over the deceased is not a sin, and it is also proven that women have tender hearts. If they are only weeping and not wailing, then they should not be prevented. However, if they engage in screaming, wailing, or commit prohibited acts, then they should be stopped.
