Benefits and Issues:
➊
Our researcher has declared the mentioned narration weak in terms of its chain of transmission.
However, the researchers of al-Mawsu‘ah al-Hadithiyyah and Shaykh al-Albani rahimahullah have graded it as hasan.
The researchers of al-Mawsu‘ah al-Hadithiyyah write regarding this narration that, based on the collection of its various chains and supporting narrations, it reaches the level of hasan.
For details, see: (al-Mawsu‘ah al-Hadithiyyah, Musnad al-Imam Ahmad: 479/9, 480; and Ahkam al-Jana’iz, p. 70)
➋
Accompanying the funeral procession is an important right of a Muslim over another Muslim.
However, in the case of committing a sin, this right is nullified.
Similarly, accepting an invitation is also a right of a Muslim over another Muslim.
But if sinful acts are taking place at the event—
for example, lack of proper covering (immodesty), photography, video recording, or following Hindu customs—then it is correct not to attend such an event.
Especially when by not attending, there is hope that the one committing the sin will be admonished.
