Hadith 155

حَدَّثَنَا عَلِيُّ بْنُ مُحَمَّدٍ ، حَدَّثَنَا وَكِيعٌ ، عَنْ سُفْيَانَ ، عَنْ خَالِدٍ الْحَذَّاءِ ، عَنْ أَبِي قِلَابَةَ ، مِثْلَهُ عِنْدَ ابْنِ قُدَامَةَ ، غَيْرَ أَنَّهُ يَقُولُ فِي حَقِّ زَيْدٍ : " وَأَعْلَمُهُمْ بِالْفَرَائِضِ " .
´Another chain with similar wording (as no. 154) but he said that:` Zaid was: "The most knowledgeable of them concerning the rules of inheritance."

Commentary:
(1)
In this hadith, the distinctive virtues of certain noble Companions (radi Allahu anhum) have been mentioned. For each Companion, the quality in which he excelled above others has been stated. However, all kinds of virtues were present among the Companions (radi Allahu anhum).

(2)
A leader should be aware of the virtues of his companions so that each person may be assigned those duties for which he is most capable of fulfilling.

(3)
Different scholars possess expertise in different fields. For every branch of knowledge, one should refer to the scholar who is an expert in that field. The importance of all of them, their necessity in society, and their value and status are equal.
