حَدَّثَنَا عَبْدُ اللَّهِ بْنُ سَعِيدٍ ، حَدَّثَنَا عَبْدُ الرَّحْمَنِ الْمُحَارِبِيُّ ، عَنْ حَجَّاجِ بْنِ أَرْطَاةَ ، عَنْ عَدِيِّ بْنِ ثَابِتٍ ، عَنْ زِرِّ بْنِ حُبَيْشٍ ، عَنْ أُبَيِّ بْنِ كَعْبٍ ، قَالَ : قَالَ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ : " مَنْ صَلَّى عَلَى جِنَازَةٍ فَلَهُ قِيرَاطٌ ، وَمَنْ شَهِدَهَا حَتَّى تُدْفَنَ فَلَهُ قِيرَاطَانِ ، وَالَّذِي نَفْسُ مُحَمَّدٍ بِيَدِهِ الْقِيرَاطُ أَعْظَمُ مِنْ أُحُدٍ هَذَا " .
´It was narrated from Ubayy bin Ka’b that the Messenger of Allah (ﷺ) said:` ‘Whoever offers the funeral prayer will have one Qirat; and whoever attends until the burial is over, will have two Qirat. By the One in Whose Hand is the soul of Muhammad! The Qirat is greater than this (mountain of) Uhud.”
Brief Explanation
1؎: Although a qirat is an extremely small weight—that is, half of a daniq, and a daniq is one-sixth of a dirham—so a qirat is one-twelfth of a dirham, which is approximately two rati, yet in the sight of Allah Ta'ala, this qirat is very great; it is that which, in weight, exceeds even a mountain.
