Hadith 1474

حَدَّثَنَا مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ بَشَّارٍ ، حَدَّثَنَا عُمَرُ بْنُ يُونُسَ ، حَدَّثَنَا عِكْرِمَةُ بْنُ عَمَّارٍ ، عَنْ هِشَامِ بْنِ حَسَّانَ ، عَنْ مُحَمَّدِ بْنِ سِيرِينَ ، عَنْ أَبِي قَتَادَةَ ، قَالَ : قَالَ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ : " إِذَا وَلِيَ أَحَدُكُمْ أَخَاهُ ، فَلْيُحْسِنْ كَفَنَهُ " .
´It was narrated from Abu Qatadah that the Messenger of Allah (ﷺ) said:` “If anyone of you is charged with taking care of his brother (after death), let him shroud him well.”

Benefit:
By "good shroud" is meant that it should be clean and pure.
It should be thick enough to conceal the body, large enough to cover the entire body, and of a moderate quality.
What is not meant is that it should be extremely fine or expensive.
