´It was narrated from Abu Qatadah that the Messenger of Allah (ﷺ) said:` “If anyone of you is charged with taking care of his brother (after death), let him shroud him well.”

1؎: By "good shroud" is meant the cleanliness and whiteness of the cloth, not its being expensive, because the Prophet (sallallahu alayhi wa sallam) forbade the use of expensive shrouds.

Benefit: By "good shroud" is meant that it should be clean and pure. It should be thick enough to conceal the body, large enough to cover the entire body, and of a moderate quality. What is not meant is that it should be extremely fine or expensive.
