´It was narrated from ‘Abdur-Rahman bin Ka’b bin Malik, about Ka’b:` “When Ka’b was dying, Umm Bishr bint Bara’ bin Ma’rur came to him and said: ‘O Abu ‘Abdur-Rahman! If you meet so-and-so, convey Salam to him from me.’ He said: ‘May Allah forgive you, O Umm Bishr! We are too busy to think of that.’ She said: ‘O Abu ‘Abdur-Rahman! Did you not hear the Messenger of Allah (ﷺ) say: “The souls of the believers are in green birds, eating from the trees of Paradise”?’ He said: ‘Yes.’ She said: ‘That is what I mean.’”

Benefits and Issues:
➊ The mentioned narration has been declared weak in its chain of transmission by our esteemed researcher. Furthermore, he has written that the forthcoming hadith (4271) suffices in its place. Therefore, despite the current narration being weak in its chain, it is still actionable and a valid proof.
➋ The deceased is given a new body in Paradise according to his rank.
➌ The comfort of Paradise and the punishment of Hell begin after death.
➍ These matters pertain to the unseen realm (‘alam al-ghayb), which is a world entirely different from this one. It is not possible to understand its conditions in the light of the conditions of this world. Therefore, whatever is established from the Qur’an and Hadith should be believed in. One should not delve into discussions regarding its modality (kayfiyyah).

Benefit:
Paradise is true, and its blessings are true, which Allah, the Exalted, has prepared for the believers. The soul of the believer will be in the form of green birds, eating from wherever it wishes, and this is to be understood as reality. To interpret this as referring to worldly green birds is incorrect; rather, they will be birds of Paradise. Subhan Allah.
