Commentary:
(1)
Hasan and Husayn (radi Allahu anhuma) were the beloved grandsons of the Messenger of Allah (sallallahu alayhi wa sallam).
And the requirement of love for the Prophet (sallallahu alayhi wa sallam) is that one should also love those whom he loved.
For this reason, loving the other noble Companions (radi Allahu anhum) is also a part of faith.
And harboring inappropriate feelings about them in the heart is contrary to faith.

(2)
Love for the Ahl al-Bayt and the noble Companions (radi Allahu anhum) is not merely a verbal claim; rather, true love is to act upon their example.

(3)
It is not correct to speak against any Companion on the basis of ijtihadi (independent juristic) errors committed by them, or to try to portray their minor slips as major crimes.
Just as some people have tried to prove the false accusations leveled against Uthman (radi Allahu anhu) to be true, and in this way have tried to validate the stance of the corrupt rebels who revolted against Uthman (radi Allahu anhu).
On the other hand, some other people have made Ali (radi Allahu anhu) and Husayn (radi Allahu anhu) the target of criticism.
The Khawarij declared both Ali and Muawiyah (radi Allahu anhuma) to be disbelievers; all of this is wrong.
The differences among the Companions were ijtihadi differences, for which there is reward even in error.
On this subject, the study of Ibn al-Arabi rahimahullah’s book (al-‘Awasim min al-Qawasim) is beneficial.
In Urdu, one should study (The Historical and Shari‘ah Status of Caliphate and Monarchy) (author: Hafiz Salahuddin Yusuf, hafizahullah).
