Benefit:
Most people are heedless of this etiquette of prayer.
After the obligatory (fard) prayer, the sunnah and voluntary (nafl) prayers should not be performed in the same place.
Either one should change one’s place, or converse with one’s companion.
For example, after giving salam, one may inquire about his well-being.
Or, after reciting the prescribed (masnun) remembrances (adhkar), one may then perform the prayers in the same place.
This subject has also been mentioned in authentic (sahih) hadiths.
Therefore, according to some individuals, this narration is also authentic.

1006. Commentary:
The purpose is that after performing the obligatory (fard) prayer, one should change one's place to some extent before offering the voluntary (nafl) prayer at the same spot.
