Hadith 1420

حَدَّثَنَا أَبُو هِشَامٍ الرِّفَاعِيُّ مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ يَزِيدَ ، حَدَّثَنَا يَحْيَى بْنُ يَمَانٍ ، حَدَّثَنَا الْأَعْمَشُ ، عَنْ أَبِي صَالِحٍ ، عَنْ أَبِي هُرَيْرَةَ ، قَالَ : كَانَ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ : " يُصَلِّي حَتَّى تَوَرَّمَتْ قَدَمَاهُ ، فَقِيلَ لَهُ : إِنَّ اللَّهَ قَدْ غَفَرَ لَكَ مَا تَقَدَّمَ مِنْ ذَنْبِكَ وَمَا تَأَخَّرَ ، قَالَ : " أَفَلَا أَكُونُ عَبْدًا شَكُورًا " .
´It was narrated that Abu Hurairah said:` “The Messenger of Allah (ﷺ) used to pray until his feet became swollen. It was said: ‘O Messenger of Allah, Allah has forgiven you your past and future sins.’ He said: ‘Should I not be a thankful slave?’”

1646. Commentary: The point of bursting after thinking, that is, it was bound to happen eventually, but there was never any sense of laziness found in the Prophet sallallahu alayhi wa sallam.
