´It was narrated from Jabir that the Messenger of Allah (ﷺ) said:` “One prayer in my mosque is better than one thousand prayers elsewhere, except the Sacred Mosque, and one prayer in the Sacred Mosque is better than one hundred thousand prayers elsewhere.”

1؎: Here, while mentioning Masjid al-Haram, the exception of the mosque of Madinah Munawwarah (Masjid al-Nabawi) has not been made, and apparently, this means that except for Masjid al-Nabawi, (the prayer in Masjid al-Haram) is superior to a hundred thousand prayers in other mosques. Because if the prayer in Masjid al-Nabawi is superior to a hundred thousand prayers, then in other mosques it would be superior to one billion prayers, and it is not unlikely that Allah Ta‘ala, out of His grace, may grant such a reward. In this case, to say that it is superior to a hundred thousand prayers in other mosques would be correct, because when it is superior to a billion prayers, then by greater reason it would be superior to a hundred thousand prayers, «واللہ اعلم».
Explanation & Benefits
Maulana Ataullah Sajid
Benefit: A single prayer in the Prophet’s Mosque is not merely equal to a thousand prayers, but rather, it is better than a thousand prayers. Similarly, a single prayer in the Sacred Mosque (Masjid al-Haram) is not just equal to one hundred thousand prayers, but it is superior to even that. However, based on the presence or absence of humility and submissiveness, observance of etiquettes and pillars, and the degree of attentiveness and turning to Allah, there can be an increase or decrease in this reward as well.
