´It was narrated that 'Abdullah said:` "The Messenger of Allah said to me: 'The sign that you have been permitted to come in is that you raise the curtain and that you hear me speaking quietly, until I forbid you.' (i.e. unless I forbid you)."

1؎: The virtue of Abdullah ibn Mas'ud radi Allahu anhu is evident from this hadith. Since he was a special attendant and would regularly participate in the gatherings, repeatedly seeking permission would have been inconvenient. Therefore, the Prophet sallallahu alayhi wa sallam granted him this specific permission.
Explanation & Benefits
Maulana Ataullah Sajid
(1) Abdullah ibn Mas'ud (radi Allahu anhu) would frequently be present in the service of the Messenger of Allah (sallallahu alayhi wa sallam). Due to the necessity of attending to various tasks, he often had to be present, and thus, leniency was granted to him regarding the rule of seeking permission (isti’dhan). In the Noble Qur’an, slaves and slave-girls have also been exempted from repeatedly seeking permission at any time except for three specific times. (: Surah An-Nur: 58)
