´‘Abdullah bin Sa’d said:` “I asked the Messenger of Allah (ﷺ): ‘Which is better prayer in my house or prayer in the mosque?’ He said: ‘Do you not see how close my house is to the mosque?’ But praying in my house is dearer to me than praying in the mosque, apart from the prescribed prayers.’”
Explanation & Benefits

Benefits and Issues:
➊ The reason why the Messenger of Allah (sallallahu alayhi wa sallam) preferred to perform voluntary (nafl) prayers at home was not due to any hardship in coming and going to the mosque, as might be the case if the mosque were far away. Rather, the real reason was that performing voluntary prayers at home is more virtuous.
➋ When a knowledgeable person expresses his own reaction to a questioner, this too is a way of explaining an issue. One benefit of this is that it gives the questioner greater reassurance.
