Hadith 1364

´It was narrated that ‘Amr bin ‘Abasah said:` “I came to the Messenger of Allah (ﷺ) and said: ‘O Messenger of Allah, who became a Muslim with you?’ He said: ‘A free man and a slave.’ I said: ‘Is there any hour of the night that is closer to Allah than another?’ He said: ‘Yes, the last half of the night.’”

Brief Explanation
1؎: By "the free man" is meant Abu Bakr as-Siddiq radi Allahu anhu, and by "the slave" is meant Bilal radi Allahu anhu. 2؎: That is, at the time of the middle of the night. In another hadith, it is mentioned that in the last third of the night, Allah ta'ala descends to the lowest heaven; from this it is understood that the last third of the night is more virtuous. And it is possible that by "the time of the middle of the night" this very meaning is intended, because between the beginning and the end, everything is in the middle.
