´It was narrated that Abu Laila said:` “I prayed beside the Prophet (ﷺ) when he was praying voluntary prayers at night. He recited a Verse which mentioned punishment and said: ‘I seek refuge with Allah from the Fire, woe to the people of the Fire.’”

Narrated Abu Layla al-Ansari: I prayed by the side of the Messenger of Allah ﷺ in the supererogatory prayer and I heard him say: "I refuge in Allah from the Hell-Fire; woe to the inmates of the Hell-fire!"

881. Commentary: The chain of narration of this hadith is weak; however, it is supported by the hadiths of Hudhayfah and Awf ibn Malik (radi Allahu anhuma). Therefore, seeking refuge (ta'awwudh) during recitation, according to the context, is permissible.
