´It was narrated that Ibn ‘Abbas said:` “A Bedouin came to the Prophet (ﷺ) and said: ‘O Messenger of Allah, I have come to you from people who have no place to graze their flocks and even their male camels have become weak. He mounted the pulpit and praised Allah, then he said: ‘O Allah, send upon us all abundant, wholesome rain, productive and plentiful, sooner rather than later.’ Then the rain came down, and no one came to him from any direction but they said: ‘We have been revived.’”
Explanation & Benefits
Maulana Ataullah Sajid
Benefit:
“The shepherd does not take travel provisions”—this means that the shepherds do not take the herds far from the settlements, because there is no grass left anywhere, so the animals are dying of hunger in the homes.
“No bull wags its tail”—this means that the animals have become very weak.
Even the bulls, which are usually stronger,
no longer have any vigor or liveliness left in them; they too stand silently,
not even wagging their tails.
Some individuals have declared this narration to be authentic. (Sunan Ibn Majah, verified by Dr. Bashar Awwad)
