Hadith 1265

´It was narrated that Asma’ bint Abu Bakr said:` “The Messenger of Allah (ﷺ) performed the eclipse prayer. He stood for a long time, then he bowed for a long time, then he stood up for a long time, then he bowed for a long time, then he stood up, then he prostrated for a long time, then he sat up, then he prostrated for a long time. He stood for a long time, then he bowed for a long time, then he stood up for a long time, then he bowed for a long time, then he stood up, then he prostrated for a long time, then he sat up, then he prostrated for a long time. Then he finished and said: ‘Paradise was brought close to me, so that if I had dared, I could have brought you some of its fruits. And Hell was brought near to me, until I said: “O Lord, am I one of them?” Nafi’ said: “I think that he said: ‘And I saw a woman being scratched by a cat that belonged to her. I said: “What is wrong with this woman?” They said: “She detained it until it died of hunger; she did not feed it and she did not let it loose to eat of the vermin of the earth.”

Brief Explanation
1؎: In the hadith, the word «خشاش» is used with the letter "khaa" (معجمہ), meaning the insects and creatures of the earth. Some have said «حشاش» with the letter "haa" (حطی), and this is an error because «حشاش» refers to dry grass, and from this comes «حشیش», and that is not the food of a cat. From this hadith, it is also established that there are two bowings (ruku‘) in every unit (rak‘ah), and it is also understood that to keep a living being confined and not provide it with food until it perishes is a grave sin, due to which a person will enter Hell.
Explanation & Benefits
Maulana Ataullah Sajid
Benefits and Issues:

The fact that the Messenger of Allah (sallallahu alayhi wa sallam) was made to witness unseen matters is also a form of revelation (wahy).
Paradise (Jannah) and Hellfire (Jahannam) were shown in a manifested form; the actual Paradise and Hellfire were not brought into the mosque.
Otherwise, everyone would have seen them.

Imam al-Bukhari (rahimahullah) has deduced from this hadith
that if there is fire or any other such thing in front of the person praying, which is worshipped by the polytheists,
but the intention of the one praying is only to prostrate to Allah, then the prayer is valid. (Sahih al-Bukhari, The Book of Prayer, Chapter: Whoever Prayed and in Front of Him Was a Furnace or Fire or Something That Is Worshipped but Intended Only the Face of Allah the Exalted, Hadith: 431).

Committing injustice towards animals is a cause for the punishment of Hellfire.

It is obligatory upon the owner to provide food and other necessities to domesticated animals.
