´It was narrated from Hisham bin 'Urwah that his father said:` ''Aishah said to me: 'O 'Urwah, your two fathers were of those who answered (the Call of) Allah and the Messenger (Muhammed) after being wounded," (they were) Abu Bakr and Zubair.''
Brief Explanation
1؎: The full verse is as follows: «الذين استجابوا لله والرسول من بعد مآ أصابهم القرح للذين أحسنوا منهم واتقوا أجر عظيم» meaning: "Those who obeyed Allah and the Messenger after being wounded—for those among them who did good and were pious, there is a great reward." (Surah Aal-e-Imran: 172). The context of revelation (shaan-e-nuzool) of this verse has been mentioned by Imam Baghawi as follows: When Abu Sufyan and the disbelievers of Makkah returned from the Battle of Uhud and reached the place of Rauha, they became regretful and ashamed of their return, and reproached themselves, saying, "We neither killed Muhammad nor captured his women." Then they decided that they should go back and finish off the Muslims. When this news reached the Prophet sallallahu alayhi wa sallam, he gathered a group of the noble Companions (Sahabah kiram) to demonstrate his strength and intended to pursue Abu Sufyan and the disbelievers of Makkah. He announced that no one should go with him except those who had participated in the Battle of Uhud. Jabir bin Abdullah radi Allahu anhuma sought permission, and the Prophet sallallahu alayhi wa sallam allowed him to join. The Prophet sallallahu alayhi wa sallam, along with Abu Bakr, Uthman, Ali, Talhah, Zubair, Sa'd, Sa'id, Abdur Rahman bin Awf, Abdullah bin Mas'ud, Hudhayfah bin al-Yaman, and Abu Ubaydah bin al-Jarrah and others, set out with seventy men and reached Hamra' al-Asad (a place twelve miles [19 kilometers] from Madinah). After this, Baghawi rahimahullah has narrated the same report from Umm al-Mu'minin Aisha radi Allahu anha. In short, there was a man there named Ma'bad Khuzai who loved the Prophet sallallahu alayhi wa sallam, and some people of that area had already embraced faith. Ma'bad expressed to the Prophet sallallahu alayhi wa sallam his deep sorrow over the wounding of his Companions. Then he went from there to Abu Sufyan and informed him of the bravery of the Companions radi Allahu anhum. Upon hearing this news, Abu Sufyan and his companions became disheartened and returned to Makkah. Thus, Allah Most High revealed this verse regarding the virtue of the Companions radi Allahu anhum.

Commentary:
➊
This hadith alludes to the following blessed verse of the Noble Qur’an:
﴿الَّذينَ استَجابوا لِلَّهِ وَالرَّسولِ مِن بَعدِ ما أَصابَهُمُ القَرحُ لِلَّذينَ أَحسَنوا مِنهُم وَاتَّقَوا أَجرٌ عَظيمٌ﴾ (Aal Imran: 172)
“Those who responded to Allah and the Messenger after injury had befallen them—for those among them who did good and were mindful (of Allah), there is a great reward.”
➋
This verse refers to the circumstances following the Battle of Uhud.
When the polytheists retreated, on the way they thought that they had missed the opportunity to annihilate the Muslims, so they decided to turn back and attack again. The Messenger of Allah (sallallahu alayhi wa sallam) also sensed this danger, that the Meccan army might attempt another attack, so he announced that all the warriors who had participated in the Battle of Uhud should march out again.
He pursued them as far as Hamra’ al-Asad, eight miles away. When the polytheists heard of this, they were intimidated and returned without attacking Madinah. (See: Al-Raheeq Al-Makhtum, p. 386)
➌
‘Urwah ibn Zubayr (rahimahullah) was the nephew of ‘A’ishah (radi Allahu anha).
His mother was Asma’ bint Abi Bakr (radi Allahu anha).
Thus, Abu Bakr (radi Allahu anhu) was his maternal grandfather, and Zubayr ibn al-‘Awwam (radi Allahu anhu) was his father.
