Benefits and Issues:
➊
The mentioned verse is as follows:
﴿وَإِذَا رَأَوْا تِجَارَةً أَوْ لَهْوًا انفَضُّوا إِلَيْهَا وَتَرَكُوكَ قَائِمًا ۚ قُلْ مَا عِندَ اللَّـهِ خَيْرٌ مِّنَ اللَّـهْوِ وَمِنَ التِّجَارَةِ ۚ وَاللَّـهُ خَيْرُ الرَّازِقِينَ﴾ (Al-Jumu‘ah: 11)
“When they see a bargain or amusement, they rush towards it and leave you standing. Say: What is with Allah is better than amusement and trade, and Allah is the best of providers.”
From this it is established that the Prophet (sallallahu alayhi wa sallam) used to deliver the sermon (khutbah) while standing.
➋
In Sahih al-Bukhari and the Tafsir of Ibn Kathir, a hadith is mentioned in the explanation of this verse:
The Messenger of Allah (sallallahu alayhi wa sallam) was delivering the Friday sermon, when a man came and said, “Dihyah ibn Khalifah has arrived with merchandise.” Upon hearing this, people stood up and left, and only a few individuals remained with the Messenger of Allah (sallallahu alayhi wa sallam). Thus, the above-mentioned verse was revealed.
(Sahih al-Bukhari, Tafsir, Chapter: ﴿وَإِذَا رَأَوْا تِجَارَةً أَوْ لَهْوًا﴾ Hadith: 4889; Tafsir Ibn Kathir, Tafsir of Surah al-Jumu‘ah)
In light of this narration, it can be said that listening to the Friday sermon, and likewise the Eid sermon, is also necessary.
Moreover, leaving after performing the prayer without listening to the sermon is a sin.
And Allah knows best.
